The 12th IEEE Career Building Essay Contest

 IEEE career development essay contest is held in order to encourage further career development of young members and women members.
 This contest is open to all people who are involved in science and technology regardless of age or occupation.
 We look forward to your participation in this contest.

 

1. Submission contents:
[Theme] How to deal with rapid changes of the world around me
 Now the world is undergoing an enormous change because of COVID-19.
 What will happen to our careers when such rapid changes in the world?
 Please write an essay based on your experience, thoughts and thoughts.

 

2. Submission guidelines:
[Eligibility for submission] Individual application
 (Anyone can apply regardless of age, gender, IEEE member / non-member)
 If a non-member is selected as a winner, we require you to register as an IEEE member.
[Script format] A4, 1 page either in Japanese or English. Free format (dissertation, essay, etc.)

3. Prizes and judging criteria:
[Awards and prizes]
– First Prize: Certificate of merit
– Award of Excellence YP section: Certificate of merit
– Award of Excellence WIE section: Certificate of merit
– Award of Excellence Undergraduate Category: Certificate of merit
[Assessment result] The author will be notified by Sunday, October 4, 2020.
 We will also send comments made by the judges. You may use them for job hunting activities or reports.
[Awarding Ceremony] We will give further notice. (scheduled in early October).

[Criterions for Evaluation]
 We will assess the submissions based on the following items.
 1. Does the essay matches the theme?
 2. Is the essay readable?
 3. Does the essay include the writer’s own thoughts properly?
 4. Is the writer’s message sound?

For YP and WIE awards, the following criterions considered:
 (YP Award) Is the main contents of the essay relates to career development of young engineers?
 (WIE Award) Is the writer either of a member, or a prospective member of IEEE WIE?
