History
- The establishment of the Japan Council Industry Promotion Committee was approved at the Japan Council Board of Directors meeting in March 2015, and activities were initiated.

Objectives
- Contribute to the enhancement of Japan’s international industrial competitiveness by strengthening cooperation between industry and the IEEE.
- Clarify the value of IEEE in industry and clarify the requirements of IEEE for not only researchers but also technical professionals in companies.
- Collaborate with Sections and Chapters in Japan through MAW (Metro Area Workshop) etc. to introduce technology trends in fields in which IEEE is deeply involved to the general public and to provide opportunities for interacting with industry, academia, and government in different fields and industries, and to contribute to the IEEE’s theme Advancing Technology for Humanity and contributing to the development of society.
About MAW
- MAW (Metro Area Workshop) is a workshop held once a year by one of the IEEE Sections in Japan to introduce technology trends in fields in which IEEE is deeply involved, to provide opportunities for interaction between industry, academia and government, and between different fields and industries, and to further promote IEEE’s Advancing Technology for Humanity and contribute to the development of society. The purpose of this annual conference is to contribute to the development of society by further promoting IEEE’s Advancing Technology for Humanity initiative.
- By holding the conference at a different Section each year, we aim to strengthen ties with companies rooted in the region, revitalize local industries, match students with companies, and realize regional economic development and employment expansion.
