The 2009 First Meeting of Japan Council Long Range Strategy Committee

The 2009 First Meeting of Japan Council Long Range Strategy Committee (LRSC) was held on February 26 (Thu), from 3:00 p.m. at IVY HALL Aogaku Kaikan, Tokyo.

Meeting SummaryF
Dr. Sugawara, Secretary, LRSC(2009-2010), explained activity of the former LSRC(2007-2008). The LRSC identified underlying issues for us were globalization and less interest in Science and Engineering. The LRSC discussed how to increase mutual benefits between IEEE and national academic societies, and issued a proposal to Japan Council.
Prof. Matsui, Chair, LRSC(2009-2010), shares the same view as the former LRSC. He also pointed out that Japan has good national academic societies, so there must be our own way to increase mutual benefits between IEEE and Japanese academic societies.
The Committee discussed items from the former LRSC proposal and identified which one should be on the table for further discussion.
The Committee expects three meetings in this year including this meeting.
