Year 2008 First Meeting of Chapter Operations Committee

The First Meeting of the IEEE Japan Council Chapter Operations Committee of 2008 was held on June 30 (Mon.) from 3:00p.m at Aogaku Kaikan, Tokyo. The Fifty-five members were participated. The action plans and the annual budget in 2008, and the financial reporting in 2007 of the Japan Council were presented by the Secretary and Treasurer. The action plans and the annual budget in 2008 of the Chapter Operations Committee were explained by the Chair and Secretary and approved. The activities from December 2007 to June 2008 were reported by each chapter.

Year 2008 Second Meeting of Japan Council Long Range Strategy Committee

Year 2008 Second Meeting of Japan Council Long Range Strategy Committee was held at Aogaku Kaikan from 17:00p.m on Tuesday July 22.Dr. Sugawara explained details and the situation of current Long Range Strategy Committee (LRSC) activities. In conclusion, LRSC has given up the IEEE JAPAN establishment proposal to the IEEE headquarters though it has made many efforts. However, LRSC believes the possibility of the IEEE Japan establishment and continues its discussion. About the LRSC activity in the future, the discussion in LRSC will focus on the relation between IEEE and national academic societies. This discussion also leads to investigation and examination of the necessity of IEEE JAPAN in a broad sense.

Third Lecture of 2008 hosted by IEEE Tokyo Section was held on 10 October(Fri.)from 17:45p.m at Aogakukaikan.
Gerald H.(Gus) Gaynor, President of IEEE Technology Management Council gave a lecture titled "Innovate or Pay Later".
He brings a record of technical accomplishments in instrumentation, control systems, automation, and product and process development. Dr. Gaynor's successful engineering carrer was followed by an entrepreneurial venture and more than thirty-years in managing major operations in engineering, technology, innovation, and business revitalization.
