Message from the Workshop Chair
As you know, the Tohoku area of Japan was struck by the devastating
earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. We pray for all the victims
and injured people in the area and would like to express our deepest
sympathy and condolences. Also, we would like to express our gratitude
to many encouraging messages those we received from all over the world.
We sincerely hope this year to be a happy year for everyone.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am pleased to extend you a warm
welcome and also an invitation to contribute to the IEEE MTT-S International
Microwave Workshop Series on Innovative Wireless Power Transmission:
Technologies, Systems, and Applications (IMWS-IWPT2012). The first IMWS-
IWPT was held at Uji campus of Kyoto University in Japan, from May 12th through May 13th, 2011.
Despite immediately after the earthquake, the workshop had a lot of attendance and had been
successfully finished.
In this workshop series, we mainly focus on the wireless power transmission (WPT) technologies
which include microwave power transmission, electromagnetic coupling, resonant coupling and
other methods. Also, systems and applications using WPT technologies and relating commerciali-
zation matters, such as standardization and regulation, are important topics of this workshop.
We are sure IMWS-IWPT2012 will be beneficial and fruitful to all the participants and will contribute
future innovated world. We are looking forward to meeting you in Kyoto, Japan in May 2012.
