The 7th IEEE Career Development Essay Contest for Young Professionals and Women Engineers
is Organized by IEEE Tokyo Young Professionals (YPs) Affinity Group,
IEEE Japan Council Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group and IEEE Kansai YPs Affinity Group.
This contest targets YPs and/or WIE members including students.
The contest’s purpose is to raise awareness on the member's future paths and relevant skills
and to share the experiences.

1. Theme:
Please express your experience or vision for career developments,
including examples of activities or experience to engage in.
Please refer a topic to the following examples.
- What is benefit of IEEE activities?
- Own challenges, dreams, goals or worry
- Own ambition to women in engineering
- Message to women in engineering
- What do you think about “career development”, “skill planning”, or “dream come true”?
- Other topics about the career development
2. Format:
Essay must be 1 page (A4 sheet) in English (or Japanese) with "the application form":

3. Deadline:
Entries must be received by 25 September, 2015.
Entries must be received by 2 October, 2015. (Deadline has been extended)
4. Submission:
The application form may be submitted to "kozawa[at]rs.tus.ac.jp"
by e-mail including the following information:
(1) your name
(2) affiliation
(3) e-mail address
(4) IEEE membership No. (if you are IEEE member)
(5) essay title (English or Japanese)
(6) essay article (English or Japanese)
If you don't receive an acknowledgment within 2 days,
please contact to "kozawa[at]rs.tus.ac.jp".
5. Qualification:
Essays must be original and unpublished. Essays must be written by one person.
(There is no limitation in qualification
for submission, for example, age, IEEE membership, etc.)
6. Criteria for selection:
The criteria of the contest is focused on the following 5 points of view.
- an activity for the career developments
- an effectiveness for the career developments
- a clear message
- a persuasive essay
- a logical configuration
7. Award:
The following awards will be given:
[1st Prize]
Certificate and prize of 20,000 Japanese Yen
[2nd Prizes] (Two categories: YPs, WIE)
Certificate and prize of 10,000 Japanese Yen
[Undergraduate Prize]
Certificate and prize of 5,000 book gift card
* The YPs Prize focuses on a content about
"a promoting the career development" and/or "a contribution for the networking with IEEE members".
* The WIE Prize focuses on
"a work and life of women in engineering" and/or "an experience for the career".
All prize winners will be invited to a YPs/WIE event on 2015.
The winner may be required to be IEEE member until the celebration event.
Travel expenses will not be covered.
The winners will be announced in 31 October, 2015.
The winner’s essay will be released on the Tokyo YPs Website (
http://www.ieee-jp.org/tokyogold/).
