The progress of ICT in these half century and its future directions
will be presented from the viewpoints of a researcher engaging in the R&D works over 45 years.
The expectation to young researchers and engineers will also be addressed,
referring my international standards activities
and the experience as the chair of NHK's International Broadcasting Program Advisory Committee.
