○ 講演者略歴：

 李先生は1974年に国立台湾大学を卒業後、Stanford Universityに留学し、
 1977年に博士号を取得しました。その後1979年に台湾に戻り、国立台湾大学
 の准教授、1982年には教授に就任しました。音声言語情報処理分野の台湾を
 代表する、国際的に大変著名な研究者であり、IEEEでは、IEEE
 CommunicationsSociety の多くの要職を務め、1992年にはIEEEフェローを授
 与されています。IEEE Signal Processing Societyの2007‐2008年度
 Distinguished Lecturerです。また2009年に台北で開催されるICASSPでは
 General Chairを務めます。また、音声研究者の世界的な組織の
 International Speech CommunicationAssociation (ISCA)のボードメンバー
 を2001年よりつとめています。台湾においても数多くの賞を受賞しています。

○講演内容：
 With the rapid increase of multimedia content on the Internet, it
 becomes more and more important to retrieve multimedia
 content. Multimedia content usually includes speech information,
 which very often carries the core information about the content and
 can be the key to retrieve the content. As a result, voice-based
 information retrieval has been an important research area. In this
 talk the present state of voice-based information retrieval is
 discussed with respect to its text-based counterpart, which has been
 extremely successful today. Some recent work done in National Taiwan
 University will also be summarized as typical examples.

○講演内容(和訳-抄訳-):
  インターネット上にある多量のマルチメディアコンテンツから必要な情報を
  検索する技術が重要になっている。通常、マルチメディアコンテンツは音声
  情報を含んでおり、それに着目して検索を行うことが可能である。本講演で
  は、テキストベースの検索と対比させる形で、音声ベースの検索について、
  現状等を紹介する。国立台湾大学での最近の研究についてもアラカルト的に
  紹介する。
