The lecture entitled "Edge Intelligence for Connected Cars: Performance, Privacy and Robustness" by Prof. Ai-Chun Pang, a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taiwan University (NTU), and the co-founder of OmniEyes Inc., was held on Nov. 8, 2022 at National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo. Prof. Pang shared their experiences on the development of edge-based mobile video platform, named “OmniEyes,” to support timely video analytics for cars, and discussed the vulnerability of the FL framework and some defense methods against privacy leakage and security threats. The lecture was held in hybrid, and 25 participants from both academia and industry joined the lecture on-site or online.

The lecturer, Prof. Angela Suresh Subramaniam, is Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the George Washington University, Washington DC, where he directs the Lab for Intelligent Networking and Computing. His research interests are in the architectural, algorithmic, and performance aspects of communication networks, with current emphasis on optical networks, cloud computing, and data center networks. He has published about 200 peer-reviewed papers in these areas, and his research has been supported by several grants from the US National Science Foundation and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He received the 2017 SEAS Distinguished Researcher Award from George Washington University, and was elected Fellow of the IEEE in 2015 for his “contributions to optical network architectures, algorithms, and performance modeling”.

The lecture of Dr. Angela Yingjun Zhang, IET Fellow, an Associate Professor from The Chinese University of Hong Kong was held on July 29, 2019 at The University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo. Dr. Zhang shared some interesting ideas about the topic of computational rate maximization in wireless powered mobile-edge computing networks. The number of participants was 18, in which there were 7 ComSoc members.

The lecture of Dr. Tarik Taleb, the founder and director of the MOSA!C Lab, a Professor from Aalto University was held on June 28, 2019 at Future University Hakodate, Hakodate. Prof. Taleb shared some interesting ideas about a potential vertical for 5G and beyond autonomous vehicles. The number of participants was 12, in which there were 3 ComSoc members.

The lecture of Dr. Tony Q.S. Quek, a Associate Professor and Acting Head of ISTD Pillar at Singapore University of Technology, was held on November 28, 2018 in Tokyo. He provided a simple overview of AI for the perspective of networking and communications and shared some interesting applications. In addition, he also shared some of his preliminary works in this area.

Our chapter cooperatively supported the Internet Conference 2018 sponsored by ITRC (JSPS 163rd Committee on Internet Technology), et al. The conference was held from 11th to 12th November 2018 at Akihabara, Tokyo.

Our chapter cooperatively supported the 33rd SIP Symposium organized by IEICE. The conference was held from 6th to 8th November 2018 at Tokyo.

The lecture of Dr. Lingyang Song, a Boya Distinguished Professor of the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University, was held on October 15, 2018 in Muroran. His discussion mainly focused on the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)-X communications. In this talk, to meet these sensing requirements, He first introduced cellular UAV-to-everything (U2X) communications, where a UAV can upload the sensing data directly to the base station (BS) or transmit through a UAV relay. Then key technologies that support U2X services were presented in detail. He finally discussed the extended U2X communications with some open issues, and the integration of UVA for measuring air-quality-index in smart city applications.

The lecture of Dr. Andreas Molisch, a professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California, was held on 7th and 8th May 2018 in Tokyo and Yokosuka. The lecture entitled "Novel Modulation and Multiple Access Methods for 5G" was given by him, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

Our chapter cooperatively supported the IETF 100 Update Meeting organized and sponsored by ISOC-JP ISPC. The meeting was held on 15th December 2017 at Kanda.

The lecture of Dr. Dusit Niyato, an associate professor in the School of Computer Engineering, at the Nanyang Technological Universit, was held on 13st December 2017 at the University of Electro-Communications. The lecture entitled "Ambient Backscatter Assisted Wireless Powered Communications" was given by Dr. Niyato, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lecture of Dr. Jalel Ben-Othman, a full professor at the University of Paris 13, was held on 13st December 2017 at Keio University. The lecture entitled "Stochastic Tools used to Improve and/or to evaluate MAC layer in Wireless networks" was given by Dr. Othman, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Marco Di Renzo, a CNRS Associate Professor (Chargé de Recherche Titulaire CNRS) in the Laboratory of Signals and Systems of Paris-Saclay University - CNRS, CentraleSupélec, Univ Paris Sud, France, were held on 1st August 2017 at the University of Electro-Communications and on 2nd August 2017 at Kyushu University. The lecture entitled "On System-Level Analysis & Design of Cellular Networks: The Magic of Stochastic Geometry" was given by Dr. Renzo, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Jiajia Liu, a Full Professor at the School of Cyber Engineering, Xidian University, were held on 21st July 2017 at Muroran Institute of Technology. The lecture entitled "Fault Detection and Data Recovery in Medical Body Sensor Networks Based on Bayesian Network Model" was given by Dr. Liu, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Tom Hou, the Bradley Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, were held on 6th July 2017 at National Institute of Informatics. The lecture entitled "Pushing the Capacity Envelope of Wireless Networks: Opportunities and Challenges" was given by Dr. Hou, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Tarik Taleb, a Professor at the School of Engineering, Aalto University, were held on 12th April 2017 at Waseda University. The lecture entitled "Customized Mobile Networking in 5G" was given by Dr. Taleb, and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Jianwei Huang, an Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, were held on 21th July 2016 at Tsukuba University and on 24th July 2016 at Hakodate-Kokusai Hotel. These lectures were ones of the lecture series in three locations in Japan: Kansai, Tsukuba and Hakodate. The lecture entitled "Incentive Mechanisms for User-Provided Networks" was given by Dr. Huang and it was a very meaningful and helpful time.

The lectures of Dr. Dusit Niyato, an associate professor at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, were held on 24th May 2016 at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Techinology, and on 26th May 2016 at Hokkaido University. These lectures were ones of the lecture series in Japan and Koria. Dr. Niyato lectured about wireless powered communication and networks with a wide rande of aplications, which are not only low-power device but also high-power device like an electric vehicles. Totally 88 participants joined the lectures and were able to deepen their knowledge more.

Our chapter cooperatively supported the Optical Communication Systems Symposium sponsored by the Technical Committee on OCS, IEICE. The symposium was hold from 17th to 18th November 2016 at the TORAY General Training Center, Shizuoka. We hosted a special lecture entitled "5G時代に向けた移動体通信ネットワークの展望 (Outlook of Mobile Communication Network for 5G era)". Dr. Matsunaga, KDDI Corporation, presentated the overview of the feture mobile network and application from the view point of the carrier.

An open workshop called "Research Activities and Future of EU/US/JP ICN Projects Workshop" was held on October 30, 2015 at Waseda University Japan. ICN (Information Centric Networking) is a new network networking paradigm to shift the emphasis to addressing content directly. This workshop featured lectures from ICN-related projects, such as GreenICN, CCNx, NDN and POINT. And trends in ICN-related standardization were also introduced. 55 participants joined the workshop and 9 lectures and 1 panel discussion were given.

Prof. Zhisheng Niu, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, gave a lacture at NICT Kojimachi Tokyo on 19th October 2016. This lecture was hold as an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Speaker Program (DSP). The lecture was titles "A Hyper Cellular Architecture for 5G" and 11 participants joined it.

Our chapter cooperatively supported the Internet Conference 2016 sponsored by ITRC (JSPS 163rd Committee on Internet Technology), et al. The conference was hold from 13th to 14th October 2015 at Sanpal, Kobe.

The lecture of Prof. Lingyang Song, Professor of Peking University in China, was held on 29th July 2015 at Kikai-Shinkou Kaikan Building and on 31th July 2015 at Muroran Institute of Technology. These lectures were ones of the lecture series in four locations in Japan: Kansai, Sendai, Tokyo and Muroran. There were totally 42 participants in these lectures. After the short introduction of Prof. Song’s biography, the lecture on two topics “Device-to-device Communications” and “Full-duplex Communications and Networks” were given. End of each topic, we had a discussion time and 3 or 4 questions were raised for each topic from audiences. Each question was not superficial but insightful, so extensive and fruitful discussions were made between the lecturer and audiences.
