HISTELCON (HISTory ELectrotechnology CONference) was a flagship conference series of the IEEE Region 8, and is dedicated to any aspects of the history of electrical engineering, electronics, computing and its implications for modern society, industry and education. From 2026, HISTELCON becomes more international for the purpose of improving member and non-member awareness of and involvement with history of technology for the benefit of humanity. Starting from Region 10 (Asia-Pacific), HISTELCON will be held across Region 7 (Canada), Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), Region 9 (Latin America and the Caribbean), and Region 10.
HISTELCON 2026 will be held at the Central Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. (Kokubunji City, Tokyo-Japan). HISTELCON 2026 is expected to bring together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, technocrats, and policymakers from across academia, government, industry and non-governmental organizations to discuss, share and promote historical and current works and accomplishments across all aspects of electrical, electronic and computer engineering, as well as information technology. Distinguished experts will be invited to deliver keynote speeches and invited talks on significant historical advances and trends in the important technologies.
The scope of the conference include, but not limited to, the following:
HISTELCON 2026 will feature both invited and contributed papers. Prospective authors are invited to submit either one page abstracts or two to four pages full papers with double column IEEE conference format. Both will undergo the same review process with the same deadlines, but only full papers subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements will be considered for publication in IEEE Xplore which is indexed by major databases. To this aim, each accepted paper must be presented by a registered author.
HISTELCON (HISTory ELectrotechnology CONference) 2026 will be held on 25–27 November 2026, at the Central Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd., in Kokubunji, Tokyo, Japan, sponsored by IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific), Region 7 (Canada), Region 8 (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), and Region 9 (Latin America and the Caribbean). The conference is expected to bring together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, technocrats, and policymakers from across academia, government, industry and non-governmental organizations to discuss, share and promote historical and current works and accomplishments across all aspects of electrical, electronic, and computer engineering, as well as information technology, under the conference theme of “Exploring History of Electro-Technologies World-Wide for Sustainable Progress.” Distinguished experts will be invited to deliver keynote speeches and invited talks on significant historical advances and trends in important technologies. The expected number of participants is 200 to 300 from all over the world.
