Collaborative Leadership beyond various boundaries

August 29th - September 1st

R10 Director’s message on IEEE R10 SYWL Congress 2024

IEEE R10

Professor Lance Fung

IEEE R10 Students, Young Professionals, Women In Engineering and Life Members (SYWL) Congress is a bi-annual event of IEEE Asia-Pacific Region (R10). The event aims to foster volunteer leadership, and facilitates networking among the participants from different corners within the Region. R10 SYWL started in 2002 under the name “R10 Student Congress” in Singapore, and it has grown over the years. I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to leaders and volunteers in the IEEE Japan Council, and from the nine sections in Japan, who proposed to host the 2024 SYWL Congress in the centre of Tokyo, Japan. Their efforts and services are greatly appreciated by all from R10. The Congress is the best place to learn the collaborative leadership beyond various boundaries such as gender, ethical background, culture, religion, and geographical region/country/section differences. Participants will learn the environmental driver of IEEE Strategic Plan, “IEEE will foster a collaborative environment that is open, inclusive, and free of bias and will continue to sustain the strength, reach, and vitality of our organization for future generations.” Once again, on behalf of IEEE Region 10, we are indebted to leaders and volunteers in Japan Council and sections for making 2024 SYWL a successful event, and the most memorable experience for all who attend! Thank you, Team IEEE Japan!
