Interim Chair's Notes:
The new chair (Kuroda) was on travel outside the country and was
elected in absentia. However, she had previously submitted her
self-nomination with her background, position statement expressing a
very strong interest in the position for Chair of JC WIE affinity
group.
The position of Director was suggested by Interim Chair to allow a
better flow of information among WIE section members in various
prefectures (separated by large distances in some cases) with the JC
WIE affinity group and their Section. Directors were either elected (if
present during the meeting) or appointed by the Interim Chair based on
their expressed interest as a volunteer. The main role of a Director
(ideally for each member Section of the Japan Council) is to be a
liaison between the Section and the JC WIE Affinity Group. The Director
is responsible for reporting to the Section as well as the JC WIE
Affinity Group regarding WIE activities and related issues. A Director
may also organize WIE activities in their respective areas or
coordinate with other areas with consultations from both the Section
and the JC WIE AG.
Please be reminded again that all WIE officers must become WIE members
(if not yet a member) and must be IEEE members (if not yet
one). It is easy to update/add new service online.
